Program Description:

The Responsible Men program is a domestic and family violence behaviour intervention program provided by YFS for men who are using violence and coercive control in their current or past intimate partner relationships. The program is run in two formats: a 22-session Face-to-Face program and a 16-session Zoom/Face-to-Face hybrid program. In addition, participants engage in a 1 hour group orientation session, and at least 4 individual sessions comprising of assessment, progress reviews, and exit sessions. We focus on how men can take responsibility to change their beliefs, their behaviour and decision making without using violence, and how to use this knowledge to make positive, ethical change for healthy, respectful, and safe relationships.

The Responsible Fathers program is a domestic and family violence behaviour intervention program provided by YFS for men who are fathers and have previously completed a behaviour intervention program including YFS' Responsible Men program. This 16-week Face-to-Face closed program supports men to continue their positive behaviour change journey with a specific focus on non-violence as a parenting choice, men's childhood experience with their fathers, and the impact of their violence on their children and the mother-child dynamic.

Program facilitators accomplish this by engaging with participants through asking fertile questions that lead to critical reflection and open discussion about behaviours and positive change, and challenging constructively to invite men to think critically on the beliefs that support abusive and controlling actions. The three key priorities that drive this work are: increased safety; increased accountability and responsibility for behaviour; and increased respect.

We run 4 x Responsible Men rolling-groups per week:
Monday 6-8pm - 22-session program
Tuesday 6-8pm - 22-session program
Wednesday 6-8pm - 22-session program
Thursday 10:00am-12:00pm - 16-session hybrid program (in-person/zoom)

We run 2 x Responsible Fathers closed-groups per year:
Tuesday 6-8pm - 16-session program

We also offer court information and referral assistance to men presenting as domestic and family violence respondents at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court, four days a week, Monday-Thursday.
